From archive: Our group size reaches 500. Plus, our 2011 prospects

Here is an important post of our group from our archive. I've posted the below discussion to the group on January, 2011. It's title is "Our group size has reached 500 -- 2011 prospects". Original siscussion is here: http://lnkd.in/vvkB8N.

Dear all,

I have three issues to share with you today.

***

First of all, I am so happy to announce that our group size has reached ** 500 ** as of today.

It goes without saying, bringing together thousands of elite industrial engineering graduates and/or fans is not easy. But we IE’s are not for easy tasks, right? We are already 500 elite professionals here, and by saying elite, I am sincere: Have you checked the list of our group members lately? We have a good many of industrial engineering academics, plenty of managers from a wide array of sectors, and many specialists among others. Besides, our solid momentum of growth makes me feel confident about the future of our group.

I see our group as a continuously-improving tool which enriches our perspectives in many areas of our everyday lives by sharing and collaborating. Remember, our vision is feeding our society with rich industrial engineering perspectives.

My second issue is 2011 prospects from our group. I am considering/dreaming of the following targets/improvements in 2011:

- Breaking 1,000 level as the group size, and then, setting the target of becoming one of the top-10 groups of Linkedin in Turkey (meaning around 2,600 members by the second half of the year).

- Kicking off get-together events, and meeting face-to-face. Opening ourselves for new connections, new acquaintances, new friendships.

- Kicking off issue-of-the-month discussion series at which we will be asking some serious questions and seeking answers for the good of our society.

What other prospects might we have? I will be happy to get your feedback as comments to this discussion item.

***

My last issue is the promotion of our group. I kindly ask from you two things:

1. This group is a huge asset for industrial engineering students and new-graduates, but usage of Linkedin is so limited among them -- although it is crucial especially at this stage of life. Feeling so sad about this, I personally try hard to bring young professionals to Linkedin platform. Let’s do this together: If you are somehow connected to the academia, please do promote our group at universities.

2. Let’s promote our group at our personal networks. Remember, professionals from backgrounds other than industrial engineering are welcomed to our group as well. Our group address is http://www.linkedin.com/groups?about=&gid=2478520.

Please consider forwarding this message to your network of friends.

As we are an open group, any discussion posted to our group is shareable on facebook, twitter, and other social networks. Please do share the discussions of our group that you like at your social networks.

Thank you for being a part of our group. We are richer with you.

Kind regards,

Ahmet Kara
